Run into life: Flensburg achieves a new donation record for cancer patients!
Last weekend, on June 14th and 15th, this year's “Run into Life” took place in Flensburg, an event that brings joy and solidarity to the region. Around 1,200 runners competed to show their solidarity with people suffering from cancer and their families. The event, organized on the grounds of the TSB Flensburg, saw an impressive donation total of 58,582.58 euros, which will go entirely to supporting projects of the Schleswig-Holstein Cancer Society e.V., as tnssports.de reports.
The atmosphere during the 22-hour event was characterized by warmth and joy of life. An emotional highlight was the candle ceremony on Saturday evening, which gave all participants the opportunity to express their hope and solidarity. The opening ceremony, which was also attended by State Secretary Magdalena Finke and Mayor Dr. Fabian Geyer took part, the event started promptly at 12.30 p.m. At 1 p.m. the starting signal was given for the first round of participants together.
Diverse offers and activities
There were numerous activities for the little visitors, including a bouncy castle, a giant dartboard and various hands-on activities, which were a lot of fun for the younger participants. The event offered the opportunity to take part as an individual starter or in a team, with registrations possible until the last moment. An important aspect of the “Lauf ins Leben” is to provide practical support for cancer patients by channeling the funds collected directly into local projects, as krebsgesellschaft-sh.de explains.
What is particularly noteworthy is that the event achieved a significant increase in donations compared to the previous year: 51,916.71 euros were collected in 2023. The high number of participants and the mutual support during the run are clear indicators of community cohesion.
A look into the future
The next opportunity to take part in a “run into life” will take place on July 19th and 20th in Eckernförde. Further information can be found on the website www.laufinsleben.de. Such events are not only important for the financial support of projects, but they also strengthen social interaction and help raise awareness of the topic of cancer.
In addition, attention is drawn to the strengthening of outpatient psychosocial cancer counseling, as is also promoted by the bayerische-krebsgesellschaft.de. Through targeted projects such as “Talking Helps” and initiatives to support self-help groups, important commitment is recognized that goes far beyond financial resources.
All in all, the “run into life” was a complete success and a strong sign of hope for everyone involved. The loving atmosphere and the incredible commitment of the supporters show that there is still a lot of potential for further events and initiatives. It remains exciting to see how the upcoming events will further promote this positive development.
