Art and Identity: Vernissage of the new exhibition in Lübeck!
On November 8, 2025, the exhibition “In the Year of the Snake” by the two artists Elisa B. Matern and Ruth Bleakley-Thiessen opens its doors at the Artler art collective in Lübeck. This event is organized by the Lübeck artists' community and promises to offer an exciting journey through the themes of seduction, transformation, identity and femininity. The opening begins at 5:00 p.m. and the exhibition can be seen until November 29, 2025.
At the same time, visitors have the opportunity to experience the creative works of the two artists up close. Elisa B. Matern shows a very special selection of objects, collage prints and acrylic paintings. Her works provide a deep insight into the nature of identity. Ruth Bleakley-Thiessen, on the other hand, specializes in transforming the everyday. She transforms household items and everyday objects into fascinating works of art that make the viewer think.
The artist Ruth Bleakley-Thiessen
Ruth Bleakley-Thiessen, born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, impresses with her unique perspective on the ordinary. After training as a communications designer at the Muthesius School in Kiel, she established herself as a freelance artist, author and coach. She is not only a member of the Lübeck Artists Association but also of Multiple Art and GEDOK-SH. Her work has been present both nationally and internationally since 2009.
In her artistic projects, Bleakley-Thiessen deals intensively with the relationship to women and identity. She reflects on how the everyday is often underestimated and looks for the meaning that lies hidden in the usual things. Each of her works is an individual invitation to bring in one's own experiences and perceptions and to look at the world through a different perspective.
An interactive experience
A highlight of the exhibition is the interactive installation “Wheel of Fate of Lust”. Here visitors can take the opportunity to explore their own lives and happiness. This exciting installation invites you to engage with the exhibition's themes in a playful way and possibly discover new facets of your own identity.
The exhibition “In the Year of the Snake” is therefore not only a visual experience, but also an interactive space that invites reflection. Art, a term derived from the Middle Low German “kunst” and meaning ability or knowledge, takes on a particularly deep meaning here. Art can be experienced – both in the objects and in the emotions they evoke. The event promises to show a good knack for creative development and invites everyone interested in art to visit this space of transformation and identity.
The opening hours of the exhibition are Thursday and Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know the works of Elisa B. Matern and Ruth Bleakley-Thiessen in depth and to be inspired by the power of art. Definitely worth a visit!
