New shade finder in the Bay of Lübeck: Stay cool on hot days!
The summer heat not only brings fun, but also the search for shady places. This is exactly where the Lübeck Bay Tourism Agency (TALB) comes into play. She launched the “Schattenfinder Lübeck Bay”, an information service that presents shady retreats in the towns of Scharbeutz, Haffkrug, Sierksdorf, Neustadt in Holstein, Pelzer Haken and Rettin. Ideal for a relaxing day at the beach or a walk in the warm months.
The Shadow Finder offers an interactive map with various shady spots where you can relax under old trees, along shady paths or on park benches in forests. XXL sun sails with sea views are also part of the offer. These retreats are not only accessible free of charge, but also offer welcome relaxation without the obligation to eat. The TALB encourages visitors to share their own favorite places with cell phone photos and addresses at moin@luebecker-buchtostsee.de so that the list continues to grow.
Additional amenities
In addition to the shaded areas, the TALB has also created an overview of the regional refill stations for free tap water, which are identified by a special sticker. The tourist information center in Scharbeutz is also one of these stations and is always available to offer free drinking water. A variety of activities in the Bay of Lübeck
However, the Bay of Lübeck doesn't just have a lot to offer in the high season. Even in the off-season there are numerous opportunities to explore and enjoy the region. Pottery courses in the old train station in Gleschendorf, wellness in the Ostsee Therme Scharbeutz or feasting on fresh fish sandwiches in the Aalkate Haffkrug - there is something for everyone here! Particularly noteworthy is the BUTZ restaurant in Scharbeutz, which offers regional and seasonal specialties, also for vegetarians and vegans.
If you prefer something more comfortable, you can visit the beach bar HAFFdüün in Scharbeutz, which is open all year round and offers a wonderful sea view. For nature lovers, beach walks and torchlight hikes on the beaches are a very special experience until mid-January.

A visit to the Bay of Lübeck would not be complete without a shopping spree in Neustadt in Holstein. Special shops such as Pearl Dune and Star Kingdom await visitors here. The weekly market, which takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays, offers regional products and a real piece of home.
