Thanh Hoa: Agriculture on the rise thanks to new high technologies!
Agriculture in Vietnam's Thanh Hoa province is currently undergoing major and positive change. The province has made great efforts in recent years to strengthen its role as a backstop for farmers. The focus is on practical measures and innovative approaches that are intended to stimulate the development of agriculture. How vietnam.vn reported, at the 19th provincial party congress, the “Agricultural Development and New Rural Development Program” was identified as one of the key programs for the period 2021-2025. This program aims to increase productivity and competitiveness in agriculture through modern production methods.
A key element of this is the implementation of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU, which envisages the accumulation and concentration of land for high-tech agriculture by 2025, with a further vision to 2030. This aims to collect a total of 33,800 hectares of land by 2025, pushing the province forward beyond the original plans while supporting the strategy to form agricultural value chains.
Support measures and innovations
Special support is provided in various thematic groups, such as safe vegetable production and infrastructure for livestock and fruit tree production. Positive changes are already visible: economic values in agriculture are increasing to hundreds of millions to billions of VND per hectare per year. An example of innovative initiatives is the Thien Truong 36 High-Tech Agricultural Trading Service Company, which has invested in 20,000 m² of greenhouses and 3.6 hectares of production areas. Their focus is on growing cantaloupes, baby cucumbers and safe vegetables.
Additional support from local authorities and sophisticated provincial mechanisms are also crucial to promote large-scale production and enable close connectivity along the value chain. The infrastructure for 241 hectares of safe vegetable growing areas has been modernized and 228 hectares of vegetables are already VietGAP certified.
Key projects and future perspectives
Thanh Hoa Province is also taking comprehensive measures to intensify agricultural production. This includes the provision of 972,000 tissue-cultured seedlings and fertilizers for 13,839 hectares of intensive cultivation. Construction of logging roads for 19,600 hectares of production forest and infrastructure for 11 livestock farms and 25 fruit tree production areas are also part of the province's efforts. Training and technology transfer are offered for fruit tree production to gradually advance modernization.
In a broader perspective, Vietnam, with an agricultural landscape of around 10 million hectares, will continue to grow in importance in the coming years. The proportion of mechanized methods in agriculture is increasing, as are modern technologies that support the growth of the industry. Loud agri-food-vietnam.com Export sales of selected agricultural products rose to an impressive USD 22.6 billion in 2022, driven by products such as rice, cashews, coffee and pepper.
All these developments clearly show that Thanh Hoa Province is on the right track to not only modernize agriculture, but also make it a competitive factor on the international scene. Representing an industry characterized by constant change and adaptation, the challenges that lie ahead are numerous, but the opportunities are also enormous.
