The Gehrenbergspatzen say goodbye with their new CD Say Hello”!

The Gehrenbergspatzen, the popular folk music group from the Lake Constance region, say goodbye to their fans after 45 years of stage presence. With a feeling of gratitude and melancholy, founder Manfred Kuks announced on the group's official website that they would now seek a new chapter closure and take the stage for their final performance. The last appearance took place in February 2024 at the Senior Fasnet.

But before it's finally time to say "farewell", the Gehrenbergspatzen would like to surprise their loyal fans with a new CD. The title “Say Hello” is not only a farewell gift, but also a homage to the past few years. The CD, which primarily contains country music, is currently in production and contains many emotional memories of joint performances, including moving encounters with fans that the musicians will remember.

From folk music to country music

Originally founded by Manfred Kuks and Kuno Bitzenhofer, the group has always had its roots in folk music. From the beginning, the Gehrenbergspatzen were not only active in their homeland. They undertook numerous concert tours in the USA, particularly in the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, New Jersey, New Mexico and Florida. They often got involved without a fee and supported social projects, which underlines their role as “first-class cultural ambassadors” for Markdorf and the Lake Constance homeland, as Bernd Gerber aptly put it.

The musical influences of country music not only extended to the British colonialists, but also found their way into the repertoire of the Gehrenbergspatzen. The history of this musical form is rich and varied, beginning in the southern Appalachians with the sounds created by families in remote mountain communities. From the beginning to the Golden Years of country music that made Nashville the capital of the genre, the Gehrenbergspatzen are proud to be part of this tradition.

A look at the musical journey

In their farewell words, the musicians emphasize how much the encounters with their fans inspired them. Gratitude is expressed not only to the loyal supporters at home, but also to the fans in America, Canada, Mexico and Hong Kong. The memories of shared experiences and the euphoric feedback from the audience will remain part of their legacy.

A special thank you also goes to Benjamin Zibret from the “BellaVista” recording studio for his support in recording the new CD. The Gehrenbergspatzen hope that their music will be fondly remembered for a long time and invite everyone to be part of this last stage of their journey. The CD “Say Hello” will be available on various download and streaming portals, including YouTube, Google, Amazon and Facebook.

It is clear that the Gehrenbergspatzen not only left a musical legacy, but above all touched many hearts. Their farewell may be bittersweet, but they leave knowing that their music and the countless memories will remain alive with their fans.
