At a time when the number of unemployed in Germany is reaching worrying levels, the governing parties Union and SPD are planning decisive steps to strengthen the economy. To get the economy back on track, politicians have developed a number of strategies. Spahn advocated tax incentives for corporate investments as well as relief for energy costs in order to reduce the challenges that companies have to overcome. Matthias Miersch from the SPD also calls for progress in reducing bureaucracy. This particularly includes a reduction in reporting requirements, which many companies find to be a hindrance. Rising unemployment as an alarm signal
The situation on the labor market is tense. According to the Federal Employment Agency, the number of unemployed is 3.025 million at the end of August 2023. This is a worrying development as such levels have not occurred in the last decade. The rise in unemployment could slow down the government's plans if it is not addressed quickly. There is agreement among parties that restoring growth and jobs must be the top priority.
The talks in Würzburg mark the beginning of a new era for cooperation between the CDU, CSU and SPD. Together they want to find ways to stimulate the economy and combat unemployment.
