Taekwondo for a good cause: Goldstadt Cup inspires 1,500 guests!

A very special event recently took place in the Fritz-Erler-Halle in Pforzheim, which not only brought together the Taekwondo community, but also many supporters from the region. The 12th charity taekwondo tournament for the Goldstadt Cup was organized by the Taekwondo department of the JC Pforzheim and this year was dedicated to the 19-year-old fighter Ilayda, who is battling cancer. Under the motto “A Heart for Ilayda”, over 700 visitors streamed into the hall that morning, which boasted a field of 360 athletes from 36 different clubs. There were also two teams from Bosnia-Herzegovina, which speaks for international ambitions and networking. PZ News reported that the tournament was fully booked two weeks in advance, which shows how high the interest was and how many athletes and clubs were unfortunately unable to take part.

City councilor Michael Schwarz and Gabi Anselment, vice president of the Taekwondo Union Baden-Württemberg, opened the event. Both emphasized the importance of cohesion in the sports community and thanked the numerous people responsible and helpers who contributed to the success of the tournament. Because it was not just a competition, but also a day that celebrated solidarity, humanity and community in sport. Simply great!

Emotional encounters and strong performances

Among the 20 fighters at JC Pforzheim, the young talents in particular showed great performances. Emotions were omnipresent that day: the atmosphere was characterized by fairness and sporting standards, so that not only the athletes but also the spectators could cheer along. The participants had the chance to prove themselves in exciting battles and face the coveted team trophies. These ultimately went to the teams TKD Rauenberg, Team Kwak, TKD Heidelberg and TTM Germany.

The tournament also received great support from a financial perspective: over 12,000 euros were collected, all of which went to Ilayda. This result is not only an important financial contribution, but also a strong sign of solidarity from the Taekwondo community. This is how a sporting event becomes a real movement for good causes. The support comes at the right time and raises the importance of sporting events beyond pure competition.

Looking back at other successes

The Baden Taekwondo Championship last year in Rauenberg can also be considered a success. This shows that the Taekwondo community in our region is alive and talents are being promoted. Around 200 competitors competed in the Mannaberghalle, supported by committed parents and coaches. In total, the club won 16 gold medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals, which speaks for their outstanding achievements. At this point, great praise goes to the successful athletes who represented their clubs worthy and achieved brilliant results at the national championships.

It is clear that Taekwondo competitions not only deliver success from a competitive perspective, but also create events that connect people. The German Taekwondo Union (DTU) is involved in many ways, be it organizing championships or taking part in international competitions. DTU offers a wide range of events that provide unforgettable experiences for both athletes and spectators.
