There is exciting news from the world of classical music in the city of Freiburg! On December 6, 2025, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra's new CD album was released, recorded under the direction of the outstanding Gottfried von der Goltz. This album addresses the multifaceted European style diversity in the 18th century and offers listeners a true sound experience. The focus is on pieces by renowned composers such as Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer, Johann Christoph Pez, Johann Sigismund Kusser, Johann Ludwig Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach. It is a musical journey through different city stations: Rastatt, Stuttgart, Ansbach, Meinigen, Eisenach and Berlin.

The CD takes the listener on a sonic adventure tour and ends with Bach's Concerto No. 2 in F major BWV 1047, which fittingly concludes the imagined journey to Berlin. The pieces included on the CD are impressive due to their great diversity.

Diverse musical styles

Particularly noteworthy are Fischer's Suite in D minor, which is inspired by French rhythms, and Pez's Concerto Pastorale, which is known for its tonal diversity and Italian influences. Kusser impresses with his overture in G minor, which impresses with its galant originality and onomatopoeic elements. Johann Ludwig Bach brings together Italian virtuosity and German counterpoint with his overture in G major.

Telemann's Concerto for flute and violin in E minor, which was written during his time in Eisenach, brings a particularly great deal of emotion to the performance. Solo flutist Isabel Lehman received special praise for her playing, which amazed the audience.
