Car crashes in Stuttgart-West: Injured and high property damage!

A spectacular traffic accident occurred in Stuttgart-West on Tuesday evening, July 8, 2025, around 9 p.m., which caused a stir. A car went over a parapet on Wernlinstrasse and fell, like that Stuttgart News reported, one to two meters deep. In this unfortunate incident, one person was injured while the property damage is estimated at around 15,000 euros. Further details about the incident are pending and are currently being investigated.

But that wasn't the only accident that made headlines in Stuttgart that day. On Wednesday, shortly before 5 p.m., there was a traffic accident involving a bus and a tram on Gerokstrasse. A bus on line 42 hit the tram on line 15 at number 3, like Day24 reported. Three people sustained minor injuries, including two women on the bus - 33 and 60 years old - and a 29-year-old passenger on the light rail. The rescue workers were quickly on the scene and provided medical care for the injured, with two of the passengers being taken to hospital as a precaution. Here too, the material damage amounts to tens of thousands of euros. As a result, Gerokstrasse was closed in both directions while the accident was being recorded, which led to significant traffic delays.

Statistical background on traffic safety

These two incidents shed light on current road safety in Germany. Loud Destatis, the federal statistical authority, road traffic accident statistics collect a variety of data that is essential for legislation and improving road safety. It offers comprehensive, current and comparable information about accidents, those involved and their causes in order to create well-founded measures in infrastructure and transport policy.

Given these events, it is clear that road accidents remain a serious challenge that not only directly affects road users, but also impacts the overall safety situation on our roads. It is all the more important that everyone affected, whether car drivers, bus drivers or passengers, always acts carefully and responsibly in road traffic.

Finally, it is to be hoped that such incidents can be prevented in the future and our roads become safer.
