Anniversary in Königsheim: Carpentry Frech celebrates 25 years of craft tradition!

On November 11, 2025, Carpentry Frech celebrated an impressive anniversary. Armin Frech, who founded his own carpentry business at the age of 21, can now look back on 25 years of success. Not only is he the youngest master of his field in Germany, but he also comes from a traditional family from Königsheim that has been active in local leadership roles since the 16th century. In the festive atmosphere of his anniversary event, even 750 visitors came instead of the expected 500, which underlines the importance of his company.

The roots of the craft lie deep in Armin Frech’s family history. His grandfather was a carpenter and he himself works as a carpenter. Thanks to the support of his parents, who provided him with the necessary business property, he was able to realize his dream. At his side is his sister Michaela Förster, who acts as office manager and actively supports him.

Sustainability in crafts

One of Armin Frech's central concerns is sustainability. He relies on the recycling of wood and has positioned his company sustainably. The industry has long recognized that construction and trades face the challenge of integrating environmentally friendly practices. It is estimated that around 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from the construction sector. That is why the use of sustainable materials in the construction sector is essential. Frech pursues this idea by integrating renewable energies and using materials from sustainable forestry.

"The trade has great potential, especially in the area of energy-efficient renovation. We have to do more for the environment," says Frech, and sees energy-efficient renovation as a future opportunity for his company. The installation of energy-saving heating systems and effective water management are also part of its strategy.

The path to mastery

Armin Frech has continued his training. After completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he completed training as a building energy consultant in 2003 and a course as a carpenter restorer in 2005. His projects are impressive and include, for example, the re-roofing of a church in the Neuhausen ob Eck open-air museum and the restoration of a house in Tuttlingen.

Carpentry Frech also attaches great importance to training young talents. Every year Frech takes on one or two apprentices, including female trainees. He tries to get young people interested in the craft through internships and school visits. In addition, he offers the district administration the design of refugee accommodation, which demonstrates his social responsibility.

The constant developments in the company, such as the purchase of a joinery system, were considered a “milestone” and show that Frech not only thinks in the present, but also plans for the future. Its proactive warehousing has proven to be beneficial during the Covid epidemic and ensures the company has the necessary flow of materials.

With a clear focus on sustainable practices and enthusiasm for craftsmanship, Armin Frech is optimistic about the future. “We all have to work on being more environmentally friendly,” he says, and he exemplifies this philosophy in his carpentry, which is not only a part of his life, but also a contribution to a better environment.
