100 years of the Neumühle Rifle Society: Anniversary with Gaukönigsschiegen!

July 24, 2025 is a very special day for the Neumühle shooting club in Amberg: It is celebrating its 100th anniversary! What could crown this event better than the 72nd District Royal Shooting of the Schützengau Amberg, which was held at the SG Neumühle stands on the occasion of the anniversary? Central Bavarian reports that the festive service on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in the Brother Konrad Church in Ammersricht under the leadership of Pastor Michael Jakob gave the first notes of jubilation. The pastor praised the SG Neumühle as a mainstay of community life and emphasized the values of sociability, sporting activity and tradition. The service was musically accompanied by the “Every-Sing” choir and members of the shooting society.

Following this ceremonial setting, a parade took place, led by the Hirschau music band, followed by the rifle club with its flag delegation. The mayor Michael Cerny, the former district administrator Armin Nentwig, OSB president Franz Brunner, and district rifleman Heiner Fraunholz were among the guests of honor.

Honors and awards

The honorary senior rifleman Wolfgang Sennfelder addressed the words of thanks and recognition to those present. He talked about the 100 years of camaraderie and the joy of shooting sports. Cerny had originally planned an anniversary disc, but Sennfelder had already donated it. This anniversary disc is endowed with 35 cash prizes; the first prize of 500 euros went to Harald Merl (6.0 disc).

Particularly honorable was the award of Manfred Lehner with the Silver Cross of Merit from the OSB for his chronicle about the SG Neumühle, while Wolfgang Sennfelder received the Bronze Cross of Merit for his twelve-year term as senior rifle master. At the subsequent award ceremony for the Gaukönigsschützen, led by Gauschützenmeister Fraunholz and the second chairwoman Lena Rosenblatt, there were other worthy winners.

Tradition and community

Tradition is very important at SG Neumühle. The shooting industry in Germany, like the district shooting, is characterized by centuries-old customs. From the ceremonial coronation of the shooting king to festive parades with flag waving, social interaction plays a central role in the club's work. The German Rifle Association gives additional meaning to the awareness of tradition and offers a forum for exchange between the clubs.

With its anniversary, the Neumühle Schützengesellschaft not only celebrated a long tradition, but also brought important values such as community and tradition to the fore. It was a day full of joy, sporting ambition and warm encounters - the joy of shooting sports lives in Amberg!
