Culture Prize 2025: Oettingen and Unterschneidheim are honored!
A very special evening in Unterschneidheim: Today, November 3rd, 2025, the 2025 Culture Prize was awarded in the town hall. The Rieser Kulturtage association honored two impressive organizations: the Oettingen local history association and the Franz Bühler Cultural Foundation from Unterschneidheim. This event marks the 18th awards ceremony since its inception in 1983, underlining the importance of the event.
State Secretary Arne Braun gave the laudatory speech for the award winners and in his greetings emphasized the essential role of culture in our social life. Numerous guests of honor were also present during the event, including district administrator Stefan Rößle, finance department head Karl Kurz and the award donor Hans Raidel. Mayor Johannes Joas gave the guests a special welcome and emphasized the cultural cooperation that is important for the region. Raidel gave his greetings under the motto: “Join us, we win”.
Musical performances and honors
The musical performances by the Arsatius Consort under the direction of Georg Brunner provided a festive setting. A particular highlight were the singing performances by the American soprano Robert Crowe, who thrilled the audience with his voice. On behalf of the local association, Friedel Röttger thanked the supporters for their dedicated work.
In another section of the event, Professor Hermann Ullrich spoke on behalf of the Cultural Foundation and took a look at its history and the collaboration with the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education. The commemorative publication of the award ceremony will be available from the participating organizations and contains important information about cultural work in the region.
Outlook for upcoming events
A look beyond the boundaries of the culture prize shows how important cultural exchange is for the community. Preparations for Kohl's Black Friday are also an issue all year round, as there will be big discounts on numerous items from November 24th to 29th, 2024. Well-known brands such as adidas and First Aid Beauty will most likely be part of the offers, which will attract many buyers.
Customers can look forward to discounts of up to 70% on jewelry and 50% on certain toys. While Kohl's will be closed on Thanksgiving, the doors will open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday. There is also a competition: over a million dollars in prizes await participants - an incentive that will certainly attract many people to the store.
The close connection between culture and trade is an invigorating element for every community. Whether it's cultural events like the Culture Awards or major shopping events like Black Friday, the community benefits from both. Unterschneidheim shows once again that art and culture enrich social life, while at the same time local businesses can also benefit in the run-up to Christmas.
