Fight to stay in the league: Eichstätt's last appearance before the winter break!

Next Sunday, December 7th, 2025, an eagerly awaited duel is on the program in the Rosenaustadion: FC Augsburg II welcomes VfB Eichstätt. This game is the last league game before the winter break and is very important for both teams.

The situation at FC Augsburg II is exciting because the team has not played for over a month thanks to a last league game against Memmingen on November 8, 2025. There is also a game against FC Bayern II this weekend, but it has been postponed to February 20, 2026. Weather-related cancellations have also affected FCA, which is currently in 4th place in the table, two points ahead of Viktoria Aschaffenburg, but has played four fewer games. Whether this is enough to be an advantage remains to be seen.

Eichstätt's challenges

The situation for VfB Eichstätt is less rosy. After a disappointing first half of the season with only 12 points from 15 games, the team is currently in 13th place in the Upper Bavaria North district league. A further relegation would not only be unpleasant, but could also result in relegation, like last year. Therefore, we urgently need to score points against FC Aschheim in order to reduce the distance to the saving bank, because only one point currently separates Eichstätt from it.

Coach Max Dörfler emphasized that it is important to collect as many points as possible in the remaining three games before the winter break. FC Aschheim, which is in fifth place and shows strong performances, is certainly not an easy opponent, especially after the 3-0 defeat at the start of the season, which showed the Eichstätter's limitations. Aschheim has put in a strong performance in recent weeks, picking up three wins in a row, led by top scorers Lordan Handanovic and Antonio Saponaro.

Personnel situation at VfB Eichstätt

Eichstätt will have to do without a few players for the upcoming match against Aschheim. Mustafa Fatiras, Jonas Perconti, Paul Massari and Daniel Hofrichter are missing. Nevertheless, there is also positive news: Johannes Hallmeier could probably be back in the squad, while the return of Fabian Heindl, Maximilian Eberlein and Niklas Matzel is possible by the winter break.

The defense will be crucial to VfB Eichstätt's success. It is important to take Aschheim's strongest attackers out of the game if the team wants to increase its chances of getting the three points. An away win could not only boost self-confidence, but also reach fifth place in the table - a positive turn of events just before the winter break.

So all eyes will be on the Rosenaustadion on Sunday when the ball rolls and both teams fight for important points so as not to lose sight of their goals for the season. Further information about the matchday can be found on Kicker.
