TSV Neu-Ulm celebrates district league title: This is how the state league journey begins!
TSV Neu-Ulm can look forward to a very special success this season: the club won the championship title in the Donau/Iller district league! Under the leadership of coach Stephan Baierl (48 years old), the team was able to score an impressive 79 points, coupled with a goal difference of 121:28. The championship was decided in an exciting duel with SC Staig, who remained undefeated but were still unable to win the title.
An exciting moment of the season was Luis Sailer-Fidalgo's dramatic winning goal in stoppage time against Altheim, which caused a storm of celebration among the team and fans. But the joy will be bittersweet because the second half of the season was marked by injury problems. This could have serious consequences in the coming national league season.
Personnel changes and challenges
TSV Neu-Ulm now faces various challenges. Some key players, including Lukas Kögel, who is ending his career, and Robin Schuhmacher, who is expected to be out for at least six months after knee surgery, are leaving the club. Luis Sailer-Fidalgo is also moving to Munich to study, while Mateo Maric would like more playing time. The club will therefore have to look for 6 to 7 new players in the future, particularly in defense and flexible offensive players.
Preparation for the new national league season begins on July 7th. A few test matches have already been planned: on July 13th it will be against FV Illertissen II, followed by another opponent on July 19th (not yet determined) and finally a match against Ehingen-Süd on July 23rd. A short training camp is also on the program from July 11th to 13th.
A look into the future
The long-term goal of TSV Neu-Ulm is clear: they want to establish themselves in the national league and compete successfully there. But first the infrastructure problems must be addressed. The training conditions last season were anything but ideal, especially in the second half of the season, when training often had to be done on artificial turf or only half a pitch. The club still has a lot of work to do to improve the basis for the new season.
The team is going into the new season motivated, and with a good hand in transfers, the mission to stay in the league could be successful.
