New dangerous goods concepts for Bavaria: Focus on the specialist conference in Dachau!

On November 5, 2025, an important specialist conference took place in the disaster protection center of the Dachau district in Hebertshausen. The event, organized by Department 14 (CBRN) of the Upper Bavaria District Fire Brigade Association, brought together representatives from various Upper Bavarian districts, neighboring districts, institutions and company fire departments to find out about innovations in the area of ​​dangerous goods. Department head Vincenzo Bucci opened the conference with an urgent call to improve cooperation between municipal and company fire departments as well as authorities and industrial partners.

A central topic of the conference was the handling of hazardous substances. Experts presented the basics and current concepts for the use of dangerous goods, with the company Elaflex drawing particular attention to its safe hose lines for dangerous media. In addition, district fire officer Stefan Kreitmeier presented the innovations in the Bavarian oil defense concept. An exciting block of topics was dedicated to hydrogen, a substance that offers many opportunities, but also harbors unknown dangers, as district fire chiefs Moritz Pichotka and Oliver Göschl made clear.

Gain practical experience

The practical part of the event was also not neglected. Special pumps for hazardous goods operations were presented by Michael Muhr from the Infraserv plant fire department. Another practice-oriented contribution discussed how to deal with bloated containers and damaged barrels, presented by Stefan Mayor and Heiko Schedlbauer from the Wacker factory fire department. The industrial exhibition also offered an insight into the latest technical innovations, including sealing systems, chemical binders and collection containers.

Outlook for future events

But that wasn't all. The specialist conference for managers in the area of ​​dangerous goods, planned for October 17th and 18th, 2025, is also coming into focus. This event, which will take place at John-F.-Kennedy-Platz 1 in Dachau, is aimed specifically at specialists who deal with ABC hazards. The conference fee is 99 euros and the number of participants is limited. Overnight accommodation is available on the riot police premises.

The importance of such meetings is also underlined by the warnings about the risk of CBRN substances (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear substances). According to that Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Such substances can enter the environment both intentionally and through accidents and pose a serious threat. Events such as those in Cologne-Chorweiler or Fukushima show the urgency of being as prepared as possible for these dangers.

The concepts presented and the committed discussion show that the safety and protection of the population is of utmost importance when dealing with hazardous substances. The exchange between the various actors has the potential to significantly improve the response to future challenges.
