Passau professional cycling team Wibatech of the past: Now pure solar!

The Passau professional cycling team Run&Race-Wibatech took part in the CRO Race in its last event with this composition, which took place from September 30th to October 5th, 2025. There was an exciting atmosphere and many familiar faces in the tenth edition of this top-class competition, which spanned almost 1000 kilometers and crossed the picturesque regions of Croatia. Among the teams that started were seven World Tour and seven Pro-Continental teams fighting for fame and honor. The event was supported by various institutions, including the Ministry of Tourism and the Croatian Olympic Committee, and promised exciting competitions and an exciting experience for spectators

.

Unfortunately, the team now has to go through some changes. Starting next season, Run&Race-Wibatech will operate as Run&Race-Solarpur and will change from a German-Polish to a German-Swiss team. Team boss Otto Peter announced that sponsor Wibatech was pulling out, while all other sponsors had either maintained or even increased their commitment. The new name sponsor is the energy supplier Solar pur from Saldenburg. The trap manufacturer Deufa from Neuburg am Inn will also be a new partner in the team. Wieslaw Ciasnocha, the Polish team boss, is retiring after 17 years in professional cycling, which is why all Polish riders will be leaving the team. Instead, new drivers from Switzerland, like Andrin Zuger, are being recruited.

Successes and challenges

The team performed remarkably in the CRO Race. The Run&Race-Wibatech drivers usually crossed the finish line at the same time as the winner, which indicates a strong team performance. Artur Sowinski was the team's best driver and finished 54th in the overall standings. Michael Peter, Otto Peter's son, followed in 66th place. Despite the upcoming changes, Otto Peter was optimistic about the future development of the other drivers.

Cycling not only thrives on talented athletes, but also on the support of committed sponsors. These play a crucial role by funding teams and encouraging innovation. Sponsors such as Solar pur and Deufa contribute to the team's visibility and help increase public interest in cycling. The synergy between sponsors and teams also promotes the development of environmentally friendly practices and technologies that are highly relevant today. As Radsport-Wulff aptly states, community involvement is an essential aspect of making sponsorship in cycling attractive.

Overall, the Passau professional cycling team is facing exciting but also challenging times. It remains to be seen how the team will perform with its new composition in the coming season. The anchoring in Bavarian cycling remains, because Run&Race-Solarpur will continue to appear on the scene as the only Bavarian professional cycling team alongside the World Tour team Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe. The anticipation for the new season is already noticeable and it will be exciting to see how the new drivers will enrich the team.
