New support for Luxembourg SMEs: 0% loans for green projects!
The Société Nationale de Crédit et d’Investissement (SNCI) in Luxembourg has launched an exciting new financial product: the “Prêt compétitivité-pérennité” at zero percent interest. How RTL reports, this loan aims to strengthen the resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) while supporting the ecological and digital transformation of the Luxembourg economy.
This innovative instrument was presented by Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance, and Lex Delles, Minister of Economy and Small and Medium Enterprises. In a joint appearance, the two ministers emphasized the need to help companies overcome financial challenges. Lex Delles specifically highlighted the difficulties in the Horeca sector and underlined the importance of investing in the SME ecosystem.
Details about the new loan
The “Prêt compétitivité-pérennité” offers generous financing: up to 80% of a project can be covered by this loan, with an upper limit of 200,000 euros per company. This means companies can concentrate on new projects without having to worry about high financing risks. The gouvernement.lu adds that this loan is a first publicly supported measure in Luxembourg that complies with European regulations.
SNCI works closely with various partner banks, including Spuerkeess (BCEE), BIL and BGL BNP Paribas, to realize this loan. The processing formalities have been made as simple as possible: companies can contact their banks directly, which will then take over the administrative process before contacting the SNCI.
A win for everyone
The demand for this type of financing is high. Tom Wirion, director of the Chambre des Métiers, notes that companies' reserves have declined and such easy access to financing is needed more than ever. The new aid fits perfectly with SNCI's strategy, which aims to promote the digital and ecological transformation of the Luxembourg economy and thus also benefit the country's large companies.
In summary, it can be seen that after the introduction of the “Prêt compétitivité-pérennité” the conditions for the positive development of SMEs in the Grand Duchy have improved. Support in the financial sector is an important building block for strengthening the competitiveness and securing the future of these companies.
