FC Würzburg dominates and knocks Viktoria Aschaffenburg out of the cup!
In the quarter-finals of the Toto Cup on November 4th, 2025 there was a clear clash between Viktoria Aschaffenburg and FC Würzburger Kickers. The Kickers left their fans in the AKON Arena no doubt and confidently won the game 4-0 (2-0). Despite a committed performance, Aschaffenburg had to acknowledge Würzburg's superiority in the end. SVA01 reports that the Kickers have demonstrated their strong form with a series of six wins and four draws from the last ten games and are currently in third place in the table.
Aschaffenburg's head coach Aytac Sulu described his team as clear outsiders before the game. The injury-related absences, particularly the absence of captain Beni Baier, were clearly noticeable. A ray of hope was Maksym Navrotskyi's debut in the starting line-up and the nomination of U19 talent Collin Brennecke.
Game progression and decisive moments
The first half started evenly, with chances on both sides. The turning point came in the 28th minute when a penalty was whistled for Würzburg, which Jermain Nischalke confidently converted to give them a 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later, Nischalke increased the lead to 2-0 and thus laid the foundation for the Kickers' victory. Max Grün, Aschaffenburg's goalkeeper, made some good saves, but could not prevent the goals conceded.
In the second half, Aschaffenburg tried everything to get back into the game despite the injury-related substitutions of Niklas Borger and Lian Akkus Rodriguez. After another substitution by Nino Cassaniti for Eren Bozan, Nischalke increased to 3-0 in the 55th minute and thus achieved a hat trick. To make matters worse, Würzburg's Liam Omore was shown a yellow-red card in the 58th minute and the Kickers had to continue playing while they were outnumbered.
Aschaffenburg still had a few chances, but as was so often the case in this game, they were unable to score. In the final minute, Cherif Cisse made it 4-0, which sealed Würzburg's brilliant victory.
