ParkHotel multi-million dollar project: Completion of the renovation is getting closer!
A very special project is currently underway at the ParkHotel Kolpinghaus in Fulda. The exciting construction work, which involves an investment volume of over three million euros, is now due to be completed shortly. Daniela Möller, the deputy diocesan chairwoman of the Fulda Kolping Association, describes the work as exciting. The hotel was originally scheduled to open on September 8th, but unforeseen challenges, such as unmarked lines, led to delays, as Marco Jozzi, the hotel's managing director, explains. A final completion date is now set for October 6, 2025.
The hotel is closed from July 1st to September 8th in order not to jeopardize construction progress. During this intensive phase of redesign, 46 of a total of 83 rooms were renovated, including new bathrooms and furniture from regional suppliers. For the renovation itself, the entire water supply in the main house had to be reworked.
Extensive renovation measures
The renovation work is the most extensive that the ParkHotel has experienced since the renovation of the restaurant in 2017 and the entrance area in 2023. Christine Möller from the Fuldaer Zeitung points out that in addition to the rooms, the sanitary facilities for the hall and restaurant as well as the supply and disposal lines are being redesigned. All construction companies from the region are selected, a keyword that also supports the local economy.
The hotel is offering its guests collaboration with surrounding accommodations during the renovation phase to ensure that all guests - including those who have already booked overnight stays - can be well looked after. The old furniture that will be replaced during the renovation will also find a useful use: it will be donated and sent to hospitals in Ukraine after preparations for transport.
A look into the future
With a workforce of around 30 employees, some of whom have been with the company for over 30 years, the anticipation of the reopening is palpable. Managing director Jozzi is optimistic that the renovated and redesigned rooms can be put into operation quickly and made available to guests.
The extensive renovations fit into the company's longer-term strategy without losing consideration for the needs of guests and employees. In particular, the relevance of sustainable renovation and regional networking becomes clear here, which makes the ParkHotel Kolpinghaus a model example in the industry.
