Wehner GROMA Cup: Regional talents shine in Fulda!

There was a lot of activity in Fulda on November 7th, 2025, when the 46th Wehner GROMA Cup was held at the Eduard Stieler School. The competition, which was launched in close cooperation with the Fulda Chefs' Association and the Hotel and Restaurant Association, is an integral part of the regional gastronomy scene. This year it's all about the motto: "For the region - From the region '250 years of Riesling Spätlese-Reiter'". The focus is on the culinary talents of the future, who will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills here.

Six chefs and seven hotel professionals took part in an exciting competition to demonstrate their knowledge. In his opening speech, District Administrator Bernd Woide (CDU) discussed the importance of performance in the catering industry and also referred to the current shortage of skilled workers that is putting a strain on the industry. He pointed invitingly to the high-quality food that was provided by eight trainees from antonius' gastronomic professions.

The winners of the competition

The jury had a lot to evaluate, especially the culinary delicacies, which were presented in the form of a sophisticated four-course menu. The awards went to the following talented young chefs and professionals:

  • Köche:
    • 1. Murilo Deters Mayer
    • 2. Mariia Shulkovska
    • 3. Erik Faulstich

  • Service:
    • 1. Amelie Lühn
    • 2. Leonie Fladung
    • 3. Jolina Möller
  • Schönster Tisch: Amelie Lühn (Moritz Pappert)

The excellent performances of the participants show that the catering industry produces exciting talents even in times of change. It will be interesting to see how these fresh faces in the industry develop in the future.

Culinary trends and regional influences

But what makes the culinary world so special? Gastronomy thrives on diversity and creativity, and one thing is certain: there are numerous influences that affect kitchens all over Germany. From regional classics to international dishes, each place has its own specialties that are waiting to be discovered. An example of this is the crispy fried chicken from Williams Fried Chicken in Dallas, which is not only iconic but has also shaped the dining scene there. There are also numerous side dishes such as collard greens and corn fritters, which are simply delicious.

The preparation of high-quality dishes, such as a beef rump roast, also requires the right know-how, which is also in demand in Fulda. The right technique plays a crucial role, from rubbing with spices to perfect cooking in the oven. The right temperature and slow cooking are not for those in a hurry, as you have to be patient to get the full flavor out of it.

Gastronomy remains an exciting field in which tradition and innovation come together. The Wehner GROMA Cup impressively shows that there is still a lot of potential in the region that is just waiting to be discovered. The competition is an excellent example of how talent is encouraged and recognized. We are excited to see what new culinary perspectives the next few years will bring.
