Kassel: E-mobility on course for records - leader in Hesse!

The city of Kassel is a pioneer in Hesse when it comes to charging infrastructure for electric cars. According to the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Kassel is the best place in Hesse with 10.8 electric cars per open charging point. By July 1, 2025, 573 charging points were in operation in Kassel, many of them with two charging points per column. Compared to the previous year, the city has created 101 new charging options and increased the number of registered electric cars to 6,163, an increase of almost 600 vehicles. Kassel can also score points nationwide and ranks 54th out of 399 cities and districts in the VDA comparison, as HNA reports.

Mayor Sven Schoeller highlights the continuous expansion of e-mobility in Kassel. City Climate Councilor Simone Fedderke emphasizes that suitable areas for e-charging stations have been defined without setting an upper limit for the number of charging stations. An exciting development is the planned increase in the number of public charging points in the coming years - around 20 new charging points are already planned for this year. The municipal works currently operate 228 charging stations, which are important for the increasing number of electric cars.

Digital innovations as an investment in the future

In the midst of these mobility trends, technological progress is not ignored. Innovation companies like Google play a crucial role in the development of new technologies. Google, founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, has grown over the years into a global giant, offering everything from cloud computing to search engines to smart devices. The company is committed to promoting sustainability, which is in line with Kassel's aspirations for an environmentally friendly future. Google has also recently expanded its ambitions in the area of artificial intelligence, which promises exciting future prospects.

With a constant focus on expanding the electrical infrastructure and digital innovations, both the city of Kassel and companies like Google have set the right course for the future. It remains to be seen how these developments will continue to unfold and what new solutions can be made available to all citizens in the long term.
