Movement and silence: First yoga service in Spieskappel!
On Sunday, July 27, 2025, the community in the Spieskappel monastery church can expect something very special: a service that creatively combines movement, meditation and spiritual impulses. In a first joint action by the Evangelical Church Community of Spieskappel-Frielendorf and the sports club TuSpo Frielendorf e.V., this innovative service will take place at 6:30 p.m. nh24 reports that a space was created in the previously renovated Romanesque church that allows participants to lay out their own yoga mats. Of course, benches and chairs are also available if someone cannot bring a seat cushion or mat.
Yoga teacher Manuela Fritsch guides participants through simple exercises that are suitable for both beginners and advanced students. In collaboration with Pastor Marco Firnges, a program was put together that combines activating and meditative elements. There is no classic sermon here, which gives participants the opportunity to shape and reflect on their experiences themselves. The Schwalm-Eder church district emphasizes that this is the first service with yoga exercises in the monastery church and that the renovation of the church contributes significantly to this variety of possible uses.
A place for meeting and reflection
The Spieskappel monastery church, which was previously characterized by pews and a stone altar, now offers a new, open space for creative services. This redesign not only means more space, but also more flexible use that meets the needs of the community. The aim of the service is to offer people a moving and meditative experience in this special environment.
The design of the program is intended to address various aspects of spirituality and create space for personal experiences. In this way, the service becomes not only a place for reflection, but also a place for movement and togetherness. Those responsible promise a special experience that will touch everyone present in many ways.
