Carnival meets golf: festive tournament and open-air party in Altenstadt!

What's new in Altenstadt? It's the time of carnival cheer and sporting ambition! On September 6th, 2025, the eagerly awaited 2nd carnival golf tournament will take place on the Altenstadt golf course, in the picturesque surroundings of Oppelshausen. Here, golf and the colorful world of carnival come together to create a very special event that will delight both players and spectators.

In cooperation with the Altenstadt Golf Course Society, the 1st Carnival Golf Club and the Grand Council of Frankfurt am Main Carnival Clubs, this tournament will not only be under the patronage of the Hessian Prime Minister Boris Rhein, but also prominent guests such as the former mayor of Frankfurt, Petra Roth, as well as Achim Vandreike and the consuls of Saudi Arabia, Attract Tanzania, Lebanon and Iceland. A real visitor magnet!

Sporty spirit and festive atmosphere

In terms of sport, things start right away with the Chapman foursome format, which opens at 10 a.m. with a cannon start. For those who don't want to swing, there are exciting alternatives: a tractor ride or an introductory golf course. The award ceremony will then take place at 3 p.m., with the winner being rewarded for their achievements with a sightseeing helicopter flight. Who can resist that?

But the tournament is just the beginning of the day! From 6 p.m. the golf course is transformed into a festive open-air party location. With the concert by the band Little River Eagles, visitors are offered a musical highlight. The former Höhner frontman Henning Krautmacher and the carnival princess Heike Sander also appear. The Munich Discord from the Oktoberfest scene will also do their best and create a great atmosphere.

Carnival: The fifth season

Such an event would not be conceivable without the thought of carnival. In Germany, this unique time is called “the fifth season” and finds its greatest expression in Cologne, where over a million people fill the streets. Traditionally, the carnival season begins on November 11th at 11:11 a.m. and ends the day before Ash Wednesday, with highlights such as Rose Monday drawing the crowds. The special thing about the carnival is the mix of traditional celebrations, music and celebrating with beer - an aspect that will not be neglected at the golf tournament, as you can see in the festive activities for non-players. Wearing colorful costumes and joining in the celebrations are also a must!

There will also be a raffle of three times two tickets for everyone who would like to take part in the open-air concert. But be careful: the registration deadline is September 1, 2025 at 6 p.m. Not only golfers, but also carnival fans will get their money's worth here and experience an unforgettable day.
