Summer ice cream and a group photo: children celebrate in Ocholt!
An exciting event is just around the corner! The Ocholt-Torsholt-Mansie local community association has come up with something very special to offer the children and young people in the region a summer break. On June 21st, a large group photo will be taken under the motto “One generation – this is what summer tastes like”. The appointment is at 1 p.m. on the grounds at the “Snackeck”. To make the experience even sweeter, each participant receives an ice cream, because summer feelings are best enjoyed with a portion of ice cream. NWZonline reports that the new chairman Henning Ulken also wants to convey to the young people a connection to their hometown.
The need for active leisure activities for young people is obvious. The association plans to organize more activities in the future that appeal not only to young people but also to families. “We noticed that there is a lack of young talent in some clubs, especially in the folk dance group of the Ocholt-Howiek local association,” says Heike Janßen. The lack of interest in traditional folk dances is a challenge that Ulken and his team want to tackle together. The aim is to work with kindergartens and schools in order to introduce the youngest children to the tradition in a playful way.
A look at the upcoming festival week
The activities of the Ortslandvolkverein are perfectly timed, because the 750th anniversary of the town will be celebrated from June 20th to 22nd. There are numerous activities for the young generation in the program for this occasion, and ulken hopes for a high level of participation. A number of 750 participants would be ideal – in keeping with the anniversary!
The challenge of getting young people excited about local events is not only a priority in Ocholt. Initiatives that appeal to young people and encourage active participation are also in demand in other regions. An example of this is municipal youth work in Austria, which has established itself as an important part of extracurricular work. In youth centers and clubs, young people are offered protected spaces for leisure activities, social commitment and local participation. Youth work in Austria shows the various initiatives that support the development of young people and strengthen cooperation in the community.
There are also exciting projects, such as the youth participation theater in Tyrol, in which experiences with racism were creatively processed. Such actions not only promote social awareness, but also creativity among young people and can serve as a model for local projects.
In summary, it can be said that the future of youth work depends on strategic and creative design, not only in Ocholt, but throughout the communities. We can only hope that in the future even more young people will be inspired by their hometowns and the traditions there!
