Bruchhausen-Vilsen is calling: 800 helpers wanted for the large tent camp in 2026!
A special event is coming up for the community of Bruchhausen-Vilsen: the 43rd district youth fire brigade camp will take place here from July 4th to 12th, 2026. This makes the community the setting for one of the largest tent camps of its kind in Lower Saxony. The organizers are expecting around 1,500 children and young people – a challenge for which around 800 volunteers are being sought to help. Municipal fire chief Michael Ullmann, who presented the project, is looking forward to the upcoming event, which has already been postponed twice due to the corona pandemic Weser courier reported.
The preparation team, consisting of seven people, is pleased about the support of circles of friends, neighborhoods, clubs and associations from the entire community. In order to ensure food for the young participants, around 2,000 meals are required every day, which have to be prepared by around 30 people per meal. This logistical undertaking requires precise organization, especially since the rosters should be available by the end of April 2026.
Looking for committed helpers
In order to be able to hold the camp successfully, those responsible now rely on the help of the public. In a two-hour information evening for the local and youth fire departments, the first steps towards finding helpers were already taken. Anyone interested can visit the Bruchhausen-Vilsen Volunteer Fire Department website at www.ff-bruchhausen-vilsen.de inform about participation and fill out a helper form online or hand it in in person at the town hall.
The community youth fire brigade will also celebrate its 35th anniversary as part of the camp. This will be a successful opportunity to honor the successes of youth work in Bruchhausen-Vilsen. The youth fire brigade not only deals with firefighting technical content, but also promotes social skills and democratic values among young people, such as Lower Saxony fire department emphasized.
Overall, the organizers and the entire community are looking forward to this exciting week, which will bring a lot of joy not only to the young people, but also to the many volunteers. Anyone interested in getting involved or receiving further information about the camp is welcome to get in touch at any time.
