Sparkasse Westmünsterland starts funds for innovative start-ups!
In a future-oriented initiative, Sparkasse Westmünsterland today launched the new venture capital fund "May Ventures", which is specially intended for start-ups in the early development phase. This was in a message from Economy currently announced. The fund will work in the regions of Münsterland, East Westphalia-Lippe and Osnabrücker Land and places a special focus on founders who develop innovative B2B solutions and future technologies.
Heiko Hüntemann, a board member of the Sparkasse, emphasized how important the connection between start-ups and the middle class and the craft is for the regional economy. "There is something," he emphasized, while the Sparkasse explained its motivation to support regional talents with creative ideas.
A strong network
The founding partners of “May Ventures”, Maximilian Derpa and Dominik Lohle, have set themselves the goal of achieving a total volume of up to 50 million euros over the next five years. With a starting volume of over 30 million euros, the financing will go to promising start-ups that are active in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, digitalization and climate protection. This commitment comes in particular from the strong research background in the region IHK North Westphalia reported.
Münsterland has established itself as a well-functioning ecosystem for start-ups in recent years, which is supported by facilities such as the Digital Hub and the Start-Up Center Reach. Despite these positive developments, many start-ups complain about financing difficulties, especially in the digital industry. Sven Wolf from the IHK points out the need for private investments to advance innovations in the region.
Supportive measures at the federal level
As part of the nationwide strategy to support existence greenery, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) explains the fundamental role of start-ups for structural change and the creation of jobs in Germany. These companies often need alternative equity financing because they have no access to traditional loans - a fact that "may ventures" want to address. The BMWK programs offer various funding that should also benefit the innovative founders of tomorrow, as described, among other things, by grants and interest -bearing financing.
The creation of the fund will further strengthen support for innovative business ideas in the region, which is particularly encouraging at a time when demand for new and sustainable technologies is high. The aim is not only to improve the economic landscape in the region, but also to actively counteract demographic change and climate protection.
As a closed fund with a term of ten years, “May Ventures” aims to achieve minority investments to start-ups below 20 percent, which means that control over the companies remains in the hands of the founders. This gives young entrepreneurs the freedom to develop and scale their ideas without excessive pressure from outside.
Overall, the foundation of the "May Ventures" fund indicates a positive trend in support for start-ups in the region and shows that both private and public institutions work together to mobilize venture capital for innovative founding ideas.
