The district football league started its new season last weekend, and the teams SC Birkenfeld and SC Idar-Oberstein II are setting an example. Both teams celebrated their second win in the league on August 10, 2025, which caused a lot of positive sweating and cheering.
In an exciting game on the grass field 'Am Stadion', SC Birkenfeld secured a 2-0 win against SG Merxheim/Monzingen/Meddersheim. The encounter had a few surprises in store for the spectators. Even though the first half ended goalless, Coach Albrecht's team broke the ice in the second half in the 85th minute when an own goal from Nils Pathenheimer put the SG behind. Shortly before the end, in the 93rd minute, Nils Schindler sealed the deal with a goal and brought joy to the 63 spectators!
Idar-Oberstein II also scores
But that wasn't the only highlight of the match day. SC Idar-Oberstein II didn't let up and won their game at the Loh sports center. Here too, a new signing showed all his skills and scored both a goal and an assist - a perfect birthday present for the team's coach. The team has placed itself at the top of the table after a strong 3-0 win against SV Oberhausen, which also took place on Saturday.
The games on the second matchday of the district league took place not only on Friday and Saturday, but also on Sunday, and offered the fans a lot of excitement. In the duel between SG Kirn/Kirn-Sulzb. and SV Oberhausen, SG Kirn was clearly superior, and thanks to an own goal and two further goals from Maximilian Kuhn and Ben Nikodemus, they left the pitch with a 3-0 win and lots of applause from the 220 fans.
