From a clinic block to a health campus: Annweiler is planning something new!
In Annweiler, things will soon come to life again on the former clinic site. The old clinic, which had to close its doors two years ago after 550 years of providing health care, is being transformed into an innovative health center. An ambitious project called “Health & Care Campus Annweiler” aims to secure extensive medical care in the region in the long term.
A new complex will be built on an area of 9,000 square meters, which will be 2.5 times larger than the previous clinic. The historic old town of Annweiler will thus be enriched by an up-and-coming healthcare landscape. The building ensemble remains because the existing building structure is retained in order to preserve the flair of the old clinic while at the same time integrating modern elements.
Diverse offers for the region
Numerous facilities and services are planned that are tailored to the needs of the population. In addition to assisted apartments for seniors and people with disabilities, which have barrier-free bathrooms and kitchenettes, nursing services and day care are offered. Non-hospital intensive care and an outpatient care service are also part of the concept. Particularly noteworthy is the offer for people with dementia, which is urgently needed in the region.
In addition, a “health hotel” will be built to boost health tourism. This idea is actively supported by the institutions involved - the Südliche Weinstraße district, the Annweiler am Trifels community association and the Landau Clinic. An academy for health training and a medical care center (MVZ) are also being planned. For an all-round positive atmosphere, a small row of shops with a café is planned to strengthen the region's health markets.
Shared commitment to a better quality of life
The city council of Annweiler has already created the planning requirements for this lively new start. A unanimous decision to change the existing development plan is the first step into the future. The new plan is entitled “Health Center” and forms the basis for the conversion of the former clinic area. This not only improves medical care, but also increases the quality of life of residents.
In times when there is often a lack of suitable health services, this project shows how important local initiatives are for the well-being of the population. It remains to be hoped that the “Health & Care Campus Annweiler” has a good knack for meeting the wishes and needs of the people in the region.
