Gechingen relies on modern security: electronic siren installed!
In the municipality of Gechingen, disaster protection is being taken to a new level. As Mayor Jens Häußler reports, a modern electronic siren was installed on the roof of the town hall to serve as a warning signal in the event of an emergency. This is the only siren in the entire Gäugemeinde, which underlines the importance of this innovation. While the municipal administration is not planning any additional siren locations, the issue will be discussed at the next municipal council meeting on August 19th.
The old motor siren that was previously in use has had its day. It could no longer be kept functional because spare parts were no longer produced and it could not be integrated into the modular warning system. In emergencies, the population will continue to be informed by the fire department and the media. The costs for the new technology amount to around 13,900 euros, for which a funding application was submitted; However, the funding decision is still pending.
Regular test alarms
A first test alarm with the new siren is planned for September 6th. In order to familiarize citizens with the use of the siren, a test alarm will be carried out on the first Saturday of every month starting in September. The costs are also taken into account: Grants of up to 10,850 euros for sirens on buildings and 17,350 euros for free-standing masts are possible for the new siren. However, the decision on further funding for the siren expansion depends on the outstanding sound analysis and the local council resolution.
A sound analysis that would determine potential locations for additional sirens and their ideal positioning is not yet available. Applications for the desired grants must be submitted by September 30th; Due to the first-come, first-served approach, it is important to decide quickly.
Technology in everyday life
Advances in technology not only enable innovative solutions in disaster prevention, but also change our everyday lives. A good example of this are the increasingly popular IoT devices, which make life easier by smartly networking everyday objects. Latest technologies like the Internet of Things are revolutionizing how we use and connect devices. They are used in different areas, be it in the home, office or industry. From smart lighting to smart thermostats, IoT devices are on the rise and improving the way we live.
Modern technical equipment is of great importance, especially with regard to safety aspects and disaster prevention. With the new siren, the municipality of Gechingen shows that it is committed to progress in order to optimally protect and warn citizens. The combination of traditional alarming and contemporary technology could be a model for other communities in the future.
