Last weekend the fire brigades in the Heidelberg region were under great strain. Numerous operations kept the emergency services busy, including a motorcycle accident, two fires and a false alarm. As the RNZ Reportedly, a serious motorcycle accident occurred on state road 535 in Heiligkreuzsteinach on Friday evening around 8 p.m. The motorcyclist presumably fell alone and had to be taken to a clinic in a rescue helicopter with a suspected ankle fracture. The fire brigade was quickly on the scene, provided first aid and ensured that any spilled operating materials were covered. The operation lasted about two hours.

Another incident occurred on Saturday at 10:50 p.m. when a fallen tree called the fire department to the scene. The emergency services removed the tree with a chainsaw and ensured that the road was passable again. This operation also lasted an hour and once again shows the necessity of the fire brigade in the everyday lives of citizens.

Fire incidents in the region

Saturday also had a tragic incident. There was a fatal traffic accident on federal highway 45 in Meckesheim this morning. While an open-air event, the “Night of Fire”, was taking place at the same time, the fire alarm went off at 11:43 a.m. in the Rewe market on Industriestrasse. Here the Mönchzell department acted quickly and checked the market with a thermal imaging camera - fortunately no fire could be detected and the customers were able to return.

At the same time there were several missions in Sandhausen. At 12:39 p.m. a fire was reported in two thuja trees on Dresdener Strasse. Residents used garden hoses to put out the fire before the fire department took over the extinguishing work. The cause of the fire also remains unclear.

In Nußloch, a burnt meal triggered a fire alarm in the morning. The fire brigade arrived shortly afterwards and checked the situation before they could leave again. Later that afternoon, a bale press fire in Epfenbach required assistance from the Spechbach fire department and the local fire department to extinguish the flames. Around ten square meters of area burned here.

The current situation surrounding traffic accidents remains a serious issue.
