Complete closure of the A6: massive traffic disruptions in Mannheim!
The A6 between Mannheim and Heilbronn will be completely closed for several days starting next Thursday evening, July 10, 2025. The reason for this measure is extensive bridge construction work, which includes the necessary final work on the new construction of the B39 bridge over the A6, including the dismantling of scaffolding and corrosion protection measures. The closure will begin at 10pm and is expected to end at 6am on Tuesday morning, July 15th. Until then, parts of the junctions will no longer be accessible from 8 p.m., warn the ADAC experts.
Road users coming from Heilbronn or from Karlsruhe on the A5 should prepare for a diversion. This leads via the Walldorf motorway junction onto the A5 to the Heidelberg motorway junction. From there you take the A656 to Mannheim, before finally getting back to the A6 if necessary. Drivers from the direction of Saarbrücken are informed about bypasses at the Frankenthal motorway junction, which lead via the A61 to the Hockenheim motorway triangle.
Important information for drivers
Road users are urged to turn off their navigation systems as they may not be aware of the current closures. To ensure a smooth journey, we recommend using the detours shown, as the dynamic LED signposts at the Walldorf and Mannheim motorway junctions will provide relevant information. As Merkur reports, further renovation work will be carried out on several roadways during the closure.
It is important that the connecting lane from the A6 towards the A61 is not affected by the closure, which can be crucial in order to avoid getting into traffic jams. The A6 itself stretches an impressive 480 kilometers and runs from the French border at Saarbrücken to the Czech border at Waidhaus, making it an important traffic artery in southern Germany.
Current traffic situation and traffic jam warnings
So plan a little more time if you're traveling on the A6 in the next few days! With the right preparations and attention to diversions, you can easily escape the infrastructure work phase.
