A serious traffic accident on state road 2805 in Alzenau called numerous emergency services onto the scene on Friday evening. The incident happened between a Skoda and a Peugeot. The 41-year-old driver of the Skoda was traveling with his family towards Kahl when he tried to avoid another vehicle. There was a serious collision that caused both cars to burst into flames. Fortunately, first responders were quickly on the scene and were able to rescue six occupants from the burning vehicles. The situation was particularly dramatic for a 28-year-old passenger in the Peugeot, who sustained serious injuries and had to be flown to a special clinic in a rescue helicopter, although danger to life could not be ruled out.

The 41-year-old Skoda driver, the person who caused the accident and a 33-year-old passenger in the Skoda also suffered serious injuries. Two little girls, ages 1 and 7, escaped with minor injuries. All injured people were transported to surrounding clinics, while the Alzenau and Kahl fire departments quickly brought the fire, which was already blazing when they arrived, under control.

State Highway 2805 was closed for several hours, until well after midnight, due to the accident. Train traffic on the Alzenau-Kahl route also had to be stopped while the fire was extinguished. After the repair work was completed, the trains were able to slowly drive past the accident site again. It was recorded that the person who caused the accident smelled of alcohol, which is why a blood sample was taken.

An expert was called in to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. Both vehicles had to be towed due to the extensive damage. The total damage amounts to a five-figure amount. A specialist company was called in to clean up any spilled fuel that escaped from one of the vehicles as a result of the impact.
