A shocking incident occurred between Thursday June 12th at 10am and Friday June 13th at 5am. Unknown perpetrators broke into an office by prying open an outside window and thus gaining access to the premises. According to the Ennepe-Ruhr district police authority The burglars looked for valuables and ultimately stole two drinks bottles. However, no trace of the escape remained.
Recently, burglary crime has increased sharply in Germany, especially in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Burglary numbers show that a total of 77,819 residential burglaries were registered in 2023, which corresponds to an increase of 18 percent compared to the previous year. North Rhine-Westphalia alone recorded an increase of 15%. A sad record that puts the security situation in the region on the agenda.

A burglary occurred on Barfüsserstrasse between Monday, June 9th, at 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 10th, at 9:30 a.m. Unknown people broke in through a window and stole money and an iPad worth a total of around 800 euros. Another crime took place in a restaurant on Bahnhofstrasse, where money and a laptop worth 150 euros were stolen between 1:35 and 1:45 a.m. There was also material damage of around 500 euros.
The Marburg criminal police is asking the public for information about these incidents and has set up the telephone number 06421/4060 to receive relevant information.

The increase in burglaries points to the need to strengthen security measures. Around 47 percent of burglary attempts are now unsuccessful, which shows that preventive measures can be effective.
