Tanja II. and Dirk I.: The new grawler prince couple are thrilled!

A new pair of princes is stirring up excitement at the carnival - Tanja and Dirk Nabinger, fraternal twins, will lead the grawlers through the foolish days as Tanja II and Dirk I. On February 7, 2000, the two saw the light of day, with Tanja being born seven minutes ahead. After Princess Cecile I of the Snake Pond, they are next in the foolish order and bring a breath of fresh air to the traditional carnival.

The Grawler, a time-honored carnival society, are known for their colorful events and the special atmosphere they spread. Tanja and Dirk have already made big plans to inspire the fools with their ideas and energy. The new royal couple is looking forward to the upcoming festivities and the great responsibility that comes with their position.

A look into history

The name “Cecile” brings back memories of the last German crown princess, Cecilie Auguste Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. She was the wife of Wilhelm, the German Crown Prince, and had a strong influence in Germany through her elegance and fashion sense. Born on September 20, 1886 in Schwerin, she often spent her childhood in the south of France, where her family looked after her father's health.

However, the marriage between Cecilie and Wilhelm was unhappy, as one can imagine given the later tragedies in their lives. After the World War they lived largely apart, and Cecilie tried to normalize her children's lives. Despite the adversities, she was heavily involved in various charities and advocated for women's education. She died on May 6, 1954 and was buried next to her husband at Hohenzollern Castle.

The meaning of tradition

Traditions play a big role both in Carnival and in the lives of real noble families. With Tanja and Dirk as the royal couple, the almost 130-year history of the grawlers is being continued. They represent a young heritage and symbolize that carnival traditions can be kept alive even in modern times. With each new child and new prince couple, a new chapter is opened that is reminiscent of the roots and history.

The grawlers are looking forward to an exciting season that will not only show the twins' charisma, but also prove the important role of Carnival in Cologne culture. This is how the fool's heart beats and the anticipation of unforgettable days increases.
