As of July 23rd, 2025, Marktstrasse in Kandel will be completely closed. Originally, only a partial closure in the area of Landauer Strasse was planned, but an unexpected incident of damage is now leading to serious changes in the region's traffic flow. The city mayor Michael Gaudier (CDU) emphasized that unclean pipe connections had repeatedly caused problems in the past. “We have to be more careful here,” continued Gaudier. The road is expected to reopen on Thursday or Friday. Interestingly, the originally planned measure in the intersection area with Landauer Strasse is not affected by this incident and will be continued independently.

It remains to be hoped that the work will progress quickly and that traffic flow in Kandel will soon function smoothly again.
